Dominoes matching game for visual discrimination

In today’s article: Fun visual discrimination activity for preschoolers.

Ever since my kids got their first set of Dominoes, I’ve been looking for ways to incorporate them into our learning activities.

My nearly four-year-old twins don’t quite grasp the Domino game itself yet. But we still have lots of fun with our Domino tiles during the day.

One of their favorites is to build lines and towers and knocking them over.

Go figure.

In order to use the Dominoes in a more educational way while keeping the fun going, I created these visual discrimination worksheets to play a game of Domino match.

This activity is a fun addition to your preschool curriculum throughout the year.

It helps children to practice a variety of skills such as visual perception and discrimination, tracking, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and even counting.

You can easily use these worksheets with your preschoolers as well as OT or special ed students.

There is a total of ten pages included in this printable set.

The first half is for younger learners.

There are exactly six Domino tiles to be matched up with the pictures. Make sure to select the correct Domino tiles and place them at the bottom of the page (see image above). Children then have to pick and match from a small selection of tiles. This makes it easier and frustration-free for the little ones.

The other half of the worksheets includes twelve pictures of Domino tiles. Again, you can prepare the twelve matching tiles and have your kids pair them.

Or for even more fun, let your students search through the whole set of 28 Domino tiles and pick the correct ones.

The choice is yours and it really depends on your children’s skill level.

What you’ll need:

  • printer
  • paper
  • Domino tiles
  • laminator (optional)

For durability or multiple uses, you can easily laminate the sheets.

  1. Thank you so much for these great work sheets. I am sending them to my grandchildren. I can’t go visit because I need to keep working plus trying to stay away. I am writing letter’s to them daily and these will be fun to include in the letters.
    Bless you and be safe.
