Flags of the world memory game for kids

Free printable memory game for kids to learn countries of the world and their flags!

I am super excited to share this flags of the world memory game with you today.

You see, I used to have one just like this when growing up and it was a lot of fun to play!

So now you can get your kids excited about learning about different countries of the world through playing games just like this one.

Each card includes the name of the country as well as their flag.

Altogether, there are twenty countries with their flags to explore or two pages with forty playing cards.

These are the countries and flags included:

  • USA
  • Canada
  • Mexico
  • Japan
  • United Kingdom
  • Italy
  • France
  • Belgium
  • Finland
  • the Netherlands
  • Argentina
  • Poland
  • Russia
  • India
  • South Africa
  • Kenya
  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Ireland

I only picked twenty countries because it’s more than plenty for little kids to learn and also sit through.

I might add more in the future though!

I also included a colorful back page to make the memory game look just like one you’d buy at the store.

Here’s how to make the printable memory game for kids:

  • Print the two pages plus back design on each page in color. Make sure to align the pages correctly. If your printer doesn’t support double-sided printing (mine doesn’t), simply print the two flag pages first and then load them again with the blank side to be printed on.

  • If you have a laminator at hand, definitely laminate the memory game! It’s going to last a lot longer. If that’s not possible for you, at least use a cardstock or photo paper for better results.

  • Then cut out the pieces. I love using my guillotine cutter because it’s so convenient. But of course, scissors will do the job too.

  • And that’s it! The memory game is ready to be played!

How to play memory games with little kids

We all know that young children’s attention span is definitely not fully developed. Therefore, don’t expect them to sit and play for a long time.

With my four-year-olds, I normally set up small amount of cards at first and see if they are interested in playing. So maybe you can try that too!

Start with just 10 cards (five pairs) and see where it takes you. And don’t forget to say aloud the names of each country so they can learn the names together with flags.

If you know more about each country, it’s fun to talk about different cultures and traditions.

You can download a pdf with the memory game at the end of this article.

Have fun playing!
