Preschool cutting strips

Here’s a set of free printable cutting skills worksheets for your preschoolers to practice their scissor skills in a fun and engaging way.

My twins love to practice their scissor skills almost on a daily basis. Therefore I created these easy-to-make cutting strips to give them plenty of opportunities to do so.

And I am happy to share them with all of you as well! So whether you have a classroom full of preschoolers or just your little ones at home, use these to help them with their scissor skills.

Preschool scissor skills

I realized a while back that my preschoolers got easily frustrated when cutting a large sheet of paper.

Not only they had to focus on the scissor grip and movement but also on holding and moving a large sheet of paper.

No wonder they would easily give up.

Then I started providing them with small pieces of paper to cut. And it was definitely a game-changer!

Now they pretend to be cutting “tickets” for their imaginary plane and train rides and have a lot of fun doing so!

So if your kids tend to get frustrated with other paper cutting activities, try these cutting strips instead.

Once they master the cutting strips, they can easily move on to more advanced cutting activities.

All you need to do is print out the pages and prepare the strips ahead of time. This will only take a few minutes.

To make it more interesting, use some color card stock paper in your child’s favorite colors.

And then let the fun begin!
