Ways to make 10 worksheets

These number 10 activities are a great addition to your kindergarten and first-grade math curriculum.

By decomposing the number 10 into two parts, children strengthen their number sense and prepare for larger numbers addition.

You can help your child by asking questions like “How many more do you need to add to make 10?” or “If you have 3, how many more to ten?”.

By coloring and drawing their answers, children can better explain their reasoning and slowly move from pictorial to mathematical expressions.

You will find a total of four pages in this printable PDF.

On the first page, children are free to experiment with coloring and make 10 any way they want. They will then write their answers.

The next two pages include one specific addend and the sum. Children will need to find the missing addend by coloring the dots correctly. This is a great way to practice different ways of making 10.

The last page lets your math learners draw two groups of objects to make the number ten. Instead of drawing, they can use counters or even building bricks (see the picture).
