# ABB Patterns

Fun and free printable ABB patterns to practice with your kids or students!

Understanding repeating patterns is an important math skill children practice from their time in preschool and kindergarten.

So let’s make learning the ABB patterns fun with these free printable worksheets.

Besides learning to make patterns, children will color, draw, and cut and paste pictures too.

And there are many more pattern worksheets to choose from, here on Planes&Balloons, so keep reading to find out more!

## What is an ABB Pattern?

Sometimes all these concepts that our kids are learning at school get a bit confusing. So let me help you out here.

An ABB pattern is simply a sequence of two objects that follow the order a-b-b, for instance, square-triangle-triangle. In this scenario, the square is the “A” and only occurs once, the triangle is “B” and repeats twice.

Imagine wearing a sweater with stripes of two colors. One stripe is blue (A) and the next two stripes are red (B-B), blueredred, blueredred, and so on.

## ABB Pattern Worksheets

In this particular set of worksheets, you will find four pages full of ABB patterns practice.

Children will practice:

• finishing the patterns by drawing the pictures
• cut and paste the last picture in each pattern
• circle the picture that comes next
• color shapes to finish patterns

What you’ll need:

• printer and paper
• pencil
• safety scissors
• glue or glue stick
• crayons or markers for coloring

There are four different activities included in this free printable, just in case, your kids prefer one over the other. Some children might enjoy drawing patterns rather than cutting and pasting them. So use them all or just the pages that your kids like best.
